Shooting schedule and Location Permissions

Shooting Schedule

Our shooting schedule is to remind us  as a group what days we are filming on, the times and were we are going to be meeting, on the shooting schedule it tells you the locations of where we will be filming and the times, a shooting schedule is to help us keep on track of what we are going to be filming and the timings. Below you can see that there is a re-shooting date which will be on the 19/1/2014. We chose the this date because it gives us time afterwards to edit the final pieces together. By keeping to the shooting schedule we will hope to have the draft copy of our opening sequence done, then we will be able to review it and see what needs to be refined.

Here is our shooting schedule for our group which we made, you can see that we are going to be filming inside school as well as outside on the weekends. We have chosen to this so that we are able to edit the clips we filmed during the week in school hours.

Location permissions

Here you can see is a sheet of paper which is our layout for our location permissions, a location permission is what you get the owner of the place where you want to film agree to that it's okay to film in their classroom or property. Above you can see the example that me and my group

Script

Script
Below you can see the basic outline of the script between the two main agents, however we trying to keep it mysterious, so that the script doesn't give to much detail away about what is going to happen, so below you can see that the last line 'Even if he did no one will listen to him' emphasises that something mysterious is going to happen or that something is out of the ordinary. We chosen to include a few lines, because we realised without any lines the opening sequence may look unclear to the audience members.
Between the two agents.

 FOREST WALK
Aidan walking through the forest as in the background he
walks past 2 men who are discussing a very important and

Casting

Casting

Casting, when casting for our opening sequence that we are going to be making, we have to chose the appropriate characters to fit the roles, firstly we need someone to be playing the lead role, we have chosen one of our group members called Jamie to fulfil this role, because he has the appropriate items of clothing already for the costume and he feels comfortable and willing to act in front of a camera. However when casting for the other roles we are going to look for members outside of our group, we need to find three more people, one being a bully, for casting the bully we want someone who may come across as not shy and a popular person in the school this is so the role can be fulfilled correctly. The other two characters that we are going to need, need to possibly look older than Jamie or are older, this is because the characters are based upon two grown men in suits that may come across as intimidating.

Main Character: Is a gothic teenage boy who isolates himself from society, and others around him, even when he is at home. He hasn't got many friends and comes across as your average teenage boy in school. However when he is out of school he changes into his gothic clothes and meets his other goth friends. The gothic items of clothing make the character feel comfortable similar to having a hidden identity. Below you can see the character of the goth teenager

Bully: The bully isn't a major role in the opening sequence, because we only see him once during the sequence, we are looking for someone who will be able to come across as the 'Cool kid' in the school and is intimidating towards the main character, we have not yet cast this role.

The two men in suits: For this role we are looking for two males, who appear older than they actually are they have to be able to have suits, and need to look as though they are mysterious, this is an important role within our opening sequence so we have to be careful on who we select.

Props list

Props list

Here you can see a props and costume list that me and my group have put together, it consists of the main props and costumes that we will be using, the props and costumes list is used to tell us what we need to get to be able to make our opening sequence look how intend it to. Also you can see it says where we will be using the props and where we are getting it from.

Here you can see a pair of earphones, these are the earphone which we will be using in the scene where the boy is playing his music through as he passes the men in suits, we chose to use these phones because they are black and represent the character who is a goths personality (stereotypically) These will be used when he is walking past the two men in the suits, where we are going to put the metalic music sound over the clip, to make it as though the sound is comming out of the ear phones.

This is a pound coin, the pound coin will be used as a key prop at the ending of the video clip, we chose the pound coin as it is usually used as loose change in the pocket of a person, the coin at the end of the sequence we will see the coin dropping and then the clip cuts out to create suspense. We will get the prop from a wallet because we will have it with us on the same day as shooting however we will make sure that we have a one pound coin on the day.

This is an example of a prop of a book that the main character will be writing in and on, we have chosen this specific book because it is a classic educational book, and it is A4 which gives room for the character to be able to do drawings in and this is when we first get a glimpse of what the characters personality is like.

Character Profile

  CHARACTER PROFILE

For our opening sequence we need to chose specific characters who will fit each of the characters, our main character had to be chosen carefully. We decided to chose one of the members of our group, Jamie Oliver, this is because he represents an average teenage boy. Below there is a picture explaining why we have chosen and the features of the main character.

This is our character before filming, as you can see he is in average clothing that you would wear to school or out with friends, you can also see the ID badge he is wearing, emphasising that he is in school grounds and not in costume which would be appropriate for filming. Also the clothing here is relatively smart casual. However for our piece we are going to make it as though the character is rebellious goth, therefore these items of clothing won't be appropriate for an effective opening sequence. This is because the item of clothing represents the wrong stereotype if Jamie was to turn up to filming wearing these items of clothing, it wouldn't fit the genre, so we have to spend time thinking what he will wear which is shown below.

Animatic

Animatic

An animatic is an animation put together of what you want you opening sequence to be like, in my groups case we have chosen to do a thriller opening sequence. In our Animatic we have included the sound track we maybe using (However were not entirely sure on this at the moment). Also what shots we would like to see the titles over, the animatic has helped us too see if our piece fits together, and if it would make sense to the audience, we also included fade animations into the the animatic, again this is to see if they would fit into our opening sequence and they did, which was a positive outcome of doing the animatics. We also found from doing the animatics the timming of each shots that we were going to include and how we would want it to look like on camera to the audience, the timing were easy to manage, as not many shots are on screen long because we don't want to give too much information away to people as we want to moving to create questions. The font that we chose was red, this means that it will stand out against the background of the opening sequence. The font we chose also aims towards the title 'Gone wild'. The font matches the title of the film because it is a rough font which then is bold to the audiences eye, however we have kept it small so that the titles don't take over the whole screen.

To improve the animatic and the opening sequence, the whole class watched it and the comments that we received are to change the music, because  it is too fast paced and doesn't fit the sequence, therefor me and my group have decided that we are going to look for other soundtracks. Also our Animatic was confusing to understand, as there was a lack of voice overs, so we are going to make it clear to understand, also this will help the audience to understand what is going on.

Story Board

                                       Story Boards

We use story boards so that we know exactly what shots we are going to include, and so that we aren't making it up as we go along, story boarding also helps you to see if the opening sequence will work well.

This story board shows the first shots that we will be using in our opening, we have said where we will put our titles of the production companies, so that we know where we will put it for the opening sequence. In these shots you can see the boy is at school and is finishing the day off, however from the story boards we can see that his identity is remaining hidden from the camera, this is purposely done because we don't want the audience to gather too much information. Then we have montage shots of him going from school to home, we drew them on the story board because it shows us the clear order, for example when he is putting mascara on it is only showing half of his face, again this is hiding his identity from us as the audience. We also put next to the drawings of what type of camera shots that we will be including. This is to make sure we know what we are doing, and planning ahead before going out to shoot. Finally we then see the shots of him changing his identity to a goth, however again the story boards show that his identity is hidden from the camera which is continued through the whole opening sequence.

From the story boards we can again see use of over the shoulder shots, which is starting to give use hints about the character, however from the story board you can see that there is a range of medium to close up shots. However we then see the identity of two men, who will be the antagonists in the opening sequences. The storyboard helps us know where the characters will be placed during the shots and filming process. The last shot showing the two men is important, because it makes us wonder what costumes they would be wearing, and how we don't want to give too much of their identity away because the convention of 'anticipation' in a thriller opening sequence wouldn't work if we gave their identity straight away.

In the final shots towards the ending of the opening sequence we can see that his identity is still remaining hidden from the camera, the story board again is showing that we will see his face at one point, however there will be use of a shallow focus which means that the radio will be in focus, however his face wont be. Overall the story boards give us a rough outline of what the shots will have to look like, for example the final shot, we need to have a coin spinning, however we don't know how we would make a coin spin on it's own so we put in detail of the shots we need leading up to that point.
